TEEN STAFF POSITIONS

Teens of the age of 13 or older have the opportunity to become a part of KCMT’s Staff. Listed below are the available positions. Please read through them carefully and then fill out a Teen Assistant Application.

Fall/Spring Show Job Descriptions
You must be of the age 14 or older to be a teen assistant in a fall/spring show. Please note job titles are subject to change. The following tasks are typical for positions in this classification. Any single position may not perform all of these tasks and/or may perform similar related tasks not listed here

Assistant Administrator
  • Creates and maintains all of KCMT’s documents used on the website, and for KCMT show purposes. For example the KCMT registration form.
  • Creates the assembly invite including a synopsis of the play.
  • Creates the awards and certificates given to cast members and Teen Staff.
  • Performs requests given by the Administrator or Executive Director.
Assistant Director
  • Assists the Director in casting the show.
  • Assists the Director in blocking scenes.
  • Makes sure actors are behaving during rehearsals.
  • Starts the warm-ups at the beginning of each rehearsal.
  • Performs requests given by the Director.
Assistant Musical Director
  • Assists the Director in casting the show.
  • Assists the Musical Director in developing performer’s vocal abilities.
  • Works on harmonizing singers in musical numbers.·
  • Works with performers to have musical numbers performance ready at rehearsals.
  • Starts the vocal warm-ups at the beginning of each rehearsal.
  • Performs requests given by the Director or Musical Director.
Assistant Choreographer
  • Assists the Director in casting the show.
  • Assists the Choreographer in creating the dance numbers for the show.
  • Works on choreography with the performers.
  • Starts physical warm-ups at the beginning of each rehearsal.
  • Performs requests given by the Director or Choreographer.
Assistant Publicist
  • Creates new and innovative ideas to promote KCMT shows and auditions.
  • Assists the Publicist in contacting newspapers and local media.
  • Assists in writing articles needed for media.
  • Assists in reserving reader boards.
  • Performs requests given by the Director or Publicist.
Assistant Stage Manager
  • Assists Stage Manager in acquiring Stage Crewmen.
  • Helps assign crewmen tasks to perform.
  • Makes sure sets are making smooth transitions throughout the show.
  • Assists in any construction or collection of materials needed for the sets.
  • Performs requests given by the Director or Stage Manager.
Stage Crewmen
  • Makes sure sets are making smooth transitions throughout the show.
  • Assists in any construction or collection of materials needed for the sets.
  • Performs requests given by the Stage Manager or Assistant Stage Manager.
Assistant Prop Master
  • Creates or obtains a list of all the props needed for the show.
  • Assists the Prop Master in collecting all the props.
  • Hands out and sets up props as needed during the show.
  • Collects all props and makes an inventory check at the end of the show.
  • Performs requests given by the Assistant Prop Master and Director.
Assistant Sound/Mic Tech
  • Assists the Sound/Mic Tech in assigning mics to cast members.
  • Assists cast members in getting mics on and off.
  • Set up and put away body mics.
  • Works with facility sound personnel.
  • Performs requests given by the Sound/Mic Tech and Director.
Spotlight Tech
  • Runs one of the spotlight’s during the production week.
  • Follows directions given by the director on when and where to use the spotlights.
  • Performs other requests given by the Director.
Assistant Costumer
  • Assists the Costumer in clothing research.
  • Assists the Costumer in measuring the performer’s sizes.
  • Assists the Costumer in obtaining costumes or materials.
  • Assists the Costumer in any sewing or costume construction.
  • Collects actors needed to try on clothes.
  • Performs other requests given by the Costumer or Director.
Assistant Hair & Make-up Artist
  • Assists the Hair & Make-up Artist in research.
  • Assists the Hair & Make-up Artist in obtaining hair and make-up products.
  • Applies hair and make-up products on actors during show nights.
  • Performs other requests given by the Artist or Director.
