Based on the 1900 novel by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 film version written by Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson and Edgar Allan Woolf, the most beloved tale of all time will come to life on the stage in June 2025. Dorothy and her three friends trot delightfully and tunefully down that fabled road of yellow brick in The Wizard of Oz.

After a tornado whisks her away to the magical land of Oz, young Dorothy Gale teams up with a Scarecrow, a Tin Woodsman and a Cowardly Lion to find the mighty Wizard of Oz, who can send her home.

Along the way, they must avoid the clutches of the Wicked Witch of the West, who is trying to steal the mysterious magic slippers that once belonged to her evil sister… but are now on Dorothy’s feet. Dorothy eventually learns just how magical friendship can be and how wonderful it can feel to go home again.

REGISTRATION/AUDITION PREP SESSIONS

Registration is held at our Rehearsal Venue 25142 Waghorn Rd NW, Poulsbo (the former Breidablik Elementary School). During this time you will be taught and coached on the songs, lines and the dance to be performed for your audition. There are multiple registration sessions (see list below) to choose from and you can sign up for the one that works for your family when you enroll online. All enrollment is handled online via “STUDIO DIRECTOR” and should be completed before arriving.

You will also be asked to fill out a Conflict Calendar which must be submitted at your Registration Session. Here is the link:  Conflict Calendar UPDATED.

Required Volunteer Hours

KCMT relies entirely on volunteers to produce a show. While at the performance venue, 35+ volunteers are needed to stage each show. Carefully consider how your family’s schedule can be adjusted so that you can be involved in the support of your actor(s). We need you!

Each family is required to volunteer a total of 50 hours (per family no matter how many actors) which must include volunteering for at least four shows. In addition, families are required to submit a $500 volunteer deposit on Registration and Audition Prep Night, which will not be processed if the volunteer requirement is met.

Teens Earning Hours

Cast members may not earn volunteer hours. Their time and energy are being directed towards excelling in their vital contribution to the production. However, grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings (not in the cast) and even non-family members may volunteer (all must complete a Background Check, of course).

While volunteering, families earn free tickets for the show! Three general admission tickets are available after completing the initial 30 volunteer hours, and families may earn one additional ticket for every 10 hours worked for a total of TEN free tickets per production (100 hours = 10 tickets). If you take advantage of this opportunity, you will need to continue to track your hours and turn in additional volunteer logs until you reach a minimum of 50 hours to meet the volunteer time commitment.

To document volunteer hours, submit completed volunteer logs to volunteerlogs.kcmt@gmail.com or leave them at the Attendance Desk at the rehearsal location. If you choose to turn in a paper copy, please take a photo of your log so you have it for your records.  NOTE: Volunteer hours/staff tickets are only available for general admission, not reserved seats.

Volunteer logs may also be turned in at the auditorium to the Volunteer Management Team – please allow sufficient time for your logs to be reviewed and your earned tickets issued (one hour prior to show time is recommended). After the closing show of the production, if you have accumulated at least 50 hours of volunteer time and served at four shows, your volunteer deposit will not be processed; the check or credit card form will be shredded. If you do not satisfy the commitment, your volunteer deposit of $500 will be processed during the week following the cast party. This applies to everyone, including Directors, Designers and Staff.

If you are interested in a volunteer staff position, please let our Volunteer Managers volunteer.kcmt@gmail.com know and they will see if a position might be available. Typically, during a production, Staff Coordinators/Assistants work 80+ hours and Directors/Managers work 100+ hours

CHARITABLE AID

For those who may be experiencing financial difficulties, single-parent families, a parent in the military, a parent out of work, or a participating foster child KCMT may be able to help offset PART of the tuition cost. To apply, please follow this online registration link and pay the $50 registration fee. Then download the KCMT Scholarship Request and follow the instructions for submitting your request as indicated.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30-6:30 (w/some Vocal 6:30-7:30, and a three-hour block on Saturdays, either 10 AM – 1 PM or 3 – 6 PM, depending on your cast assignment. Specialty dancers and leads may have additional Friday and Saturday rehearsals. Actors are expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals.

Please pick your child up on time after rehearsal. Actors should only be at KCMT (rehearsals and performances) only when they are scheduled. We are not equipped to watch children who are not actively involved in rehearsals/performances.

CONFLICT CALENDAR

The Conflict Calendar plays an important role in casting a show. “Conflicts” that arise AFTER a show is cast are the same as “missing a rehearsal.” All KNOWN conflicts must be declared at registration. Absences arising after the Conflict Calendar is submitted must go through the Attendance Supervisor and could jeopardize your casting in the production. You can download a copy of the OZ 2025 Conflict Calendar UPDATED.  It will also be emailed to you when you complete your registration.

PRODUCTION WEEKS

Production Weeks are the last two weeks on our rehearsal schedule. Leads are required not to participate in any overnight activities during production weeks. We require that you clear your child’s schedule of all outside activities during production weeks. Extra activities during production weeks sap the energy from their performances.

Any time an actor or actress needs to miss a performance due to unforeseen circumstances, permission and arrangements for their replacement MUST be coordinated through a Director.
